To capture in the flow of time, the essence of sounds, silences and harmonies interwoven in the raga is the aim of her musical expression. The flow, like a strand of honey, mellow and light, refusing to break, like a stream now rippling and gushing, now meandering and springing, finds its path, much as the note does in a raga.

Aparna articulates her musical experience in terms of this flow. A flow that is definitively bound by the shores of tutelage and ‘Lakshana’ - the grammar of music. In her performances, her ‘riyaaz’ and when amongst her students, this sentiment occurs repeatedly.
